Patricia works as the secretary for David, an executive at an advertising agency. With the company undergoing downsizing, his department faces elimination, prompting David to be offered early retirement as a smooth way out. Surprisingly, David is less troubled by this unexpected retirement than Patricia. This is significant because Patricia has been his mistress for 18 of the 19 years she has worked with him.
